Insurance Appraisal AuthorityNational Curriculum Initiative
Announcement

An idea whose time has come

In brief: we have invited all organizations that train and certify insurance appraisers and umpires to join a collaborative, non-partisan initiative to develop a national core curriculum for insurance appraisal protocols and best practices, and we are inviting industry leaders to help shape it.

Together, we aim to build a shared educational foundation that equips appraisers and umpires with the knowledge, practical skills and professional judgment needed to help resolve disputed claims.

The curriculum will recognize differences in policy language and state law while establishing common learning objectives for competent, ethical appraisal practice.

As states implement or consider appraiser and umpire licensing, we intend to engage with state departments of insurance and contribute practical industry experience to the development of licensing requirements and educational standards.

Why now

We believe this is an idea whose time has come. Now is the time for industry leaders to step forward and help shape it. We welcome your experience, your ideas and your willingness to contribute.

How to take part

  • Share your input: what should every appraiser and umpire understand before accepting an assignment?
  • Nominate a contributor: put yourself, another professional or an organization forward for consideration.

Get involved

Together, we can strengthen appraisal education, advance professional competency and keep resolution at the center of the process.
